The Department of Islamic Sciences offers structured courses in Tafseer, Hadith, and Seerah, enabling students to develop a deeper understanding of the Qur’an, the Prophetic tradition, and the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The programs aim to combine authentic scholarship with contemporary relevance and practical understanding.
This course offers an in-depth and analytical study of Surah Al-Baqarah, exploring its major themes, historical context, linguistic insights, legal guidance, spiritual teachings, and contemporary relevance. Students will engage with the Surah through a structured Tafseer approach that connects Qur’anic guidance with practical, intellectual, and ethical challenges of modern life.
This course provides a structured introduction to the principles, classifications, and technical terminology of Hadith Sciences. It explores the methods developed by Muslim scholars for the preservation, transmission, authentication, and evaluation of Prophetic traditions. Students will become familiar with key concepts related to Sanad, Matn, narrators, categories of Hadith, and standards of authenticity, enabling them to better understand the scholarly framework through which Hadith literature has been preserved and studied.
This course provides an analytical and structured study of the life, mission, leadership, and character of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It explores the major events of the Seerah within their historical, social, political, and spiritual contexts, while highlighting the wisdom, strategies, values, and principles demonstrated throughout the Prophetic mission. The course also connects the lessons of the Seerah with contemporary personal, social, ethical, and leadership challenges.
